2010 POTATO VARIETIES

ALL BLUE:

Mid-season (80+ days). Deep blue skin, consistently blue, almost purple, flesh. Very abundant yields, medium sized tubers; Smooth skin, shallow eyes and excellent flavor. A must for ‘Red, White and Blue Potato Salad’ or ‘Hashed Blues’. Also good as French fries.
CAL WHITE:

Mid to late season, high yields of white fleshed, tan skin; performs well in hot climates. Space closer than normal to avoid over-large tubers.
KENNEBEC:

Mid-season (80+ days): the Maine Potato. Light tan skin, shallow eyes and white flesh. A consistant potato and a good keeper. Great flavor cooked any method. Some disease resistance.
MODOC:

A substitute for Red Pontiac, an early maturing red-skinned, white fleshed variety. Similar to Red Lasoda, low susceptibility to viral and fungal diseases.
RED CHERRY:

Mid-season (80+ days). Oval tubers, red smooth skin, white flesh and shallow eyes. Harvest when small for good quality, gourmet baby red potatoes. Best for baking and boiling.
RED CHIEFTAIN:

Mid to late season: high yields of attractive tubers with shallow eyes. Widely adapted. Moderately scab and net necrosis resistant.
RED GOLD:

Mid-season (80+ days); medium sized tubers, red skin and delicate yellow flesh. Excellent semi-moist texture and great flavor; high yields; disease resistant. Use steamed, boiled, baked, fried, mashed, roasted or scalloped.
RED LASODA:

Mid-season (80+ days). Adaptable to a wide variety of climates and soil conditions. Round tuber, smooth skin and distinct eyes. A good keeper. The popular, delicious, red market potato.
RUSSET NORKOTAH:

Early (65+ days); excellent for baking, boiling, French frying, chipping and scalloping. Uniform yields, stores well, good choice for a single potato crop. Scab resistant.
YUKON GOLD:

Extra early (55+ days); an excellent keeper. An attractive, smooth, thin yellow shinned potato with shallow eyes, yellow flesh and uniform yields. Lends itself well to any method of preparation. A popular gourmet potato.

FINGERLINGS:
BUTTERFINGER:

Aka Swedish Peanut – Early (55+ days); nutty tasting yellow flesh with light tan skin; holds shape well for salads or sautéed, steamed or boiled.
FRENCH FINGERLING:

Early (55+ days) – Satiny purple-pink skin and yellow flesh; gourmet quality and flavor.
RED THUMB:

Early (55+ days) – Brilliant red skin and unusual red flesh, a unique gourmet variety.
RUSSIAN BANANA:

Late (90+ days) – Easiest to grow and one of the best fingerlings. Yellow, banana shaped, waxy textured tubers – excellent baked, boiled or steamed. Good disease resistance.

FOR A CAREFREE, GREEN LAWN, EISLEY’S SUGGESTS…

JANUARY 1: Apply Master Nursery Easy Livin’ Fall and Winter Feed .

FEBRUARY 15:  Apply Master Nursery Pre-Emergent Crabgrass Control Plus for crabgrass and spurge, and other spring germinating weeds

APRIL 1:  Apply Master Nursery Lawn Food (25-6-4) or if desired, Master Nursery Weed and Feed (25-6-4) for post emergent weed control. Water in with Master Nursery Soil Penetrant.

MAY 15:  Apply Master Green Lawn Food (25-6-4) or if desired, Master Nursery Weed and Feed (25-6-4) for post emergent weed control. Do not apply to a water stressed lawn or when temperatures are over 85 F.

JULY 1:  Apply Master Nursery Iron Plus to your entire lawn. This will green up your lawn without stimulating a lot of growth in hot summer weather.

AUGUST 15: Apply Master Nursery Pre-Emergent Crabgrass Control Plus (16-4-6) for control of Poa annua and other fall germinating weeds. Water in with Master Nursery Soil Penetrant, to open the soil and let water penetrate deeper for root growth.

OCTOBER 1:  Apply Master Nursery Easy Livin’ Fall and Winter Feed.

NOVEMBER 15:     Apply Master Nursery Easy Livin’ Fall and Winter Feed.

DECEMBER:  Happy Holidays – take a break this month.
